How big companies are working around the H1B cap
``Firms get creative to work around visa bottlenecks'' is an article on Career Journal Asia which talks about how big companies like Google, Microsoft and Intel cope with H1B visa bottlenecks. Most of these big companies can afford to wait a year if their hires for this year (FY 2008) did not make the H1B lottery. In the mean time the new hires either stay in school or in another country where the company has operations.
Empty phrases in your resume
An article on MSN Careers website talks about ``What's Wrecking Your Resume?'' It has a list of words that has to be avoided on résumés. Your résumé might have some of these words; sure enough mine had a few.

Job Search Strategies using RSS
RSS is one of the technologies which is driving the so called WEB 2.0. Almost everyone with an iPod uses RSS knowingly or unknowingly. You may be wondering what does RSS has to do with job search strategies. Hold on, I will show you exactly how you can use the Really Simple Syndication technology to make you life simpler.
What are all the tools you need? Off course a RSS reader or an aggregator. If you are using Firefox you have Sage which is a nice RSS reader (In case you haven't installed it already follow this link.). I recently switched to Linux completely and I have now started using Thunderbird as my Mail client as well as my RSS reader. I will show how you can add RSS feeds to thunderbird and you can translate it to your reader of choice. The wiki article about aggregator has a link to popular RSS readers.
Once you have an RSS reader you are all set to start. Now go to you favorite job site and type on keyword in the search box. I use one of the four job search engines which were listed in my previous article. For example
